CULTURE WITHOUT BORDERS

Just as the natural environment depends on biodiversity, so the human environment depends on cultural diversity, because no one civilization encompasses all the spiritual, ethical and artistic expressions of mankind.
Jonathan Sacks, theologian

Culture in the broadest sense – art, science, and even technology – transcends all boundaries. Some elements of another, foreign culture become integral elements of ours. Culture shows us that a border is not necessarily just a place of separation and conflict, but also a place of merging. It is a place where different elements come together and fuse, thus creating both mine and yours – our culture.
Cultural diversity is the result of mutual respect and coexistence, regardless of borders. This is evidenced by Rijeka’s heritage: ancient urban environment, medieval Old Town grid, Baroque interventions, Austro-Hungarian architecture in conglomeration with Italian Modernism, cuisine that is a combination of Hungarian, Viennese and Mediterranean gastronomy, multiculturalism as a result of centuries of coexistence.

Imagine
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
It isn’t hard to do
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
But I’m not the only one
And the world will be as one
I wonder if you can
A brotherhood of man
And the world will be as one
